Landscape usually wins
Brackets grow horizontally as rounds advance, so landscape orientation gives later-round cards enough width. Letter and A4 both work for small fields; large 32- or 64-entrant brackets may need a larger sheet or separate round pages.
Use the browser print preview to check the actual printer margins. A page that looks correct in a browser tab can lose its outer connector when the printer clips the edge.
PDF, PNG or direct print
Save as PDF when the bracket is an official record or needs to be emailed. Download PNG when it will be posted in chat or on a screen. Direct print is best when the organizer is already at the venue and wants the fastest paper copy.
A black-and-white print view is intentional: it keeps text contrast high and avoids spending colored ink on a background that does not help someone write a score.
Leave room for the real world
Use concise entrant names, leave enough row height for handwriting and print a spare copy. Keep the public link or QR code separate from the private management link so a spectator cannot change a live result.
For a connected event, print a backup and use the host page as the source of truth after each confirmed match. That gives the venue resilience without creating two competing brackets.
