Random bracket generator: shuffle matchups, not the rules
A useful random bracket generator changes the entrant order before the tournament begins. It should not quietly choose every winner unless you explicitly ask it to. The Shuffle action creates a new first-round draw; Pick random winners is a separate surprise action for games and simulations.
The visible draw seed gives the randomization a reference. Save it with the bracket when fairness matters, or reshuffle freely when the point is entertainment.
Random bracket byes and reproducible draw seeds
Every entrant appears exactly once in the draw. If the list does not fill a power-of-two bracket, empty positions become automatic byes. Because the entire order is shuffled first, byes are part of that draw rather than silently assigned to the names that happened to be typed first.
For a serious seeded event, use the single elimination maker and order entrants by rank instead. Random seeding is fair only when all entrants are intended to have equal draw probability.
How to rerun a random bracket fairly
Random tools feel satisfying when the result appears immediately and remains inspectable. The bracket forms as soon as names are pasted, the shuffle is one action, and the current seed stays visible. That creates a clear loop without hiding the mechanism behind a spinning animation.
After the bracket is complete, the winner card can be downloaded or sent as a challenge. Friends receive the same entrant list but make their own decisions.
When to use a random bracket generator
Use random brackets for classroom debates, movie nights, food rankings, team draws and casual tournaments. They are less suitable when rankings, regional separation or conflict-of-interest rules must shape the first round.
Lock the result by sharing or exporting it before making another draw. A new shuffle intentionally creates a different bracket, while Undo only changes winner decisions inside the current draw.

Random bracket fairness checklist
Random is defensible only when the randomized part and the fixed part of the draw are visible to everyone affected.
